X-men Essentials Volume 4

This is how super hero comics are supposed to be!
I've been a big fan of the X-men for a long time, but my knowledge of the X-men started before and after the issues contained in X-men Essentials Volume 4. I didn't realize what I was missing.
The Good
- Chris Claremont's X-men are spot on. These are the characters at their purest before the X-men started to live upon it's own history; reliving the same old stories over and over.
- Paul Smith's and John Romita Jr.'s artwork is incredible. Each character is unique. The line work is crisp and clean.
- Really cool stuff happens in these issues that affects years of continuity down the road
- The Brood. I always thought they were a bad Aliens rip-off, but fleshed out they are really interesting.
- Binary-Ms. Marvel as part of the team
The Bad
- What was up with Madelyne Pryor? That was a strange storyline
- At one point, Storm says she could manipulate solar winds. Eh. Other than the shared name "winds", I'm not under the impression she could do that.
- The Morlock storylines could have been so much more
Overall
If you've never seen this part of X-men history and want to see Wolverine done right, treat yourself to X-men Essentials Volume 4.
